Preparing for and Making an Advising Appointment
All students must download and complete the items below before they meet with an advisor. Appointments will be rescheduled if students are not prepared. Students are responsible for keeping track of their progress and should make a file of these documents to update them for each meeting.
1. Bring a completed Biology checklist to your appointment including filling in each course you took for the Baccalaureate Core in the provided blanks. Students should keep their checklist from previous meetings so they can simply update new courses for each appointment.

2. Bring a year plan (in pencil) of what you think you should take over the entire year.

- The Biology Advising Bulletin lists when courses are generally offered, but students should also check the OSU Catalog for the term courses are offered and pre and corequisites.

3. Students pursuing an option or pre-professional interest must bring the appropriate checklist
- Health profession checklists (medicine, dentistry, etc.)
- Biology Option Checklists (Biotechnology, Pre-Education, Genetics, Marine Biology)
4. Sign up for the appropriate listserves
- Sign up for the Biology Listserve if you are a Biology major (or plan to be one)
- Sign up for health professions or pre-education if you are interested
5. Make an advising appointment
