Professional Development and Career Resources

Past students have enjoyed taking ALS 295 The Last Year Experience during the winter term of their junior or senior year.  This course discusses and analyzes a variety of skills needed after college and how to prepare to transition effectively.

Other professional development courses focus on skills in science including writing, interviewing and public speaking.  Student Leadership and Involvement also offers several leadership development workshops and seminars.

Career Services can help students with mock interviews and crafting of resumes and CVs.  They also have limited listings for jobs and internships (many more can be found on the web sites below), career guides and courses such as ALS 114 Career Decision Making and ALS 210 How to Be Successfull in Your Internship Search.

Seniors may find the biology career resources helpful as they consider next steps for all kinds of careers including graduate and professional school training. International opportunities exist for students after graduation.  Students hunting for jobs should look at the internships, research, volunteering and jobs resources.
