Students in the Biology Program are generally very successful in getting scholarship and award each year. For the 2007/2008 academic year Biology had 71 incoming freshman receive an OSU Diversity Achievement, Provost or Presidential Scholarship. Eleven Biology students were awarded the OSU Drucilla Shepard Smith Award for maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA during their academic career, and two of the ten students awarded the OSU Waldo-Cummings Outstanding Student Award were Biology, while three other Biology students received honorable mentions.

Christina Murphy and Robbie Lamb were awarded nationally competitive Fulbright Grants this year. Britta Wren Patton was awarded the nationally competitive NOAA Ernest F. Hollings Scholarship. Brent Erickson was awarded the International Science Student Travel Award and the Jack Van DeWater Scholarship to support his clinical internship work in South Africa. Whetherly Cundiff was awarded the OSU International Degree Research Award.
