While preparing for medical school in Biology, Keegan decided to be involved in undergraduate research. She received an OSU Howard Hughes Medical Institute grants to fund her research and pay her a stipend while working in Dr. Pat Chappell’s Laboratory on molecular biology techniques to study the effects of steroid hormones on hypothalamus cells. Keegan also worked in the OSU Bone Density Lab and found time to spend a summer volunteering at Doernbercher Children’s Hospital in Portland. All of this, while competing and going to nationals in gymnastics.
