Undergraduate Research at OSU
There are many opportunities for undergraduate research at OSU. Involvement by the student may be part-time during the school year, full or part-time during summer, and paid or unpaid. With approval of the guiding professor, students may receive academic credit for research experience by following the procedures on the Research Approval Form below. Students can receive grants that pay them a stipend while conducting research during the year or summer.
Most students get involved in research by approaching a faculty member they are interested in working with. In some cases, students learn about a faculty member's research from having them as a professor or from an advisor, but research interests can be found by simply looking online with the resources below. Often students start by volunteering in a lab which can lead to being paid; particularly if a student has work-study funding. Students can also apply for grants and fellowships to fund their research.
